Soprano Design has been shortlisted for the prestigious Smarter Working Live Awards 2024 in the UK for two separate Conversational AI-powered public sector solutions.
The awards, which will take place on 21 November, celebrate innovation and excellence in transforming public sector services, making a double nomination a significant achievement for Soprano.
The categories Soprano has been shortlisted for are:
- Smarter Workflows Award: BT & Soprano Design with the NHS
- Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning Award: Soprano Design with Breckland Council
Both solutions highlight Soprano’s ability to meet the changing needs of its customers as public sector organisations continually search for ways to drive efficiencies and improve service delivery.
Andrew Fry, Global SVP of Partnerships & Product Marketing at Soprano, told of his delight at Soprano’s Conversational AI solution being nominated for multiple awards.
“We’re honored to have our Conversational AI solution recognized for its significant impact in the public sector. Increasingly, organizations are eager to adopt innovative technology to rapidly enhance digital services for both the community and staff.” he said.
When asked about the Smarter Workflows Award nomination for Soprano, BT and the NHS’s Patient Concierge solution, Andrew shared more on the project’s impact.
“The project’s primary goal is to uplift patient satisfaction, while enabling more efficient clinician care delivery. Reducing costly missed appointments, reducing treatment wait-times and transforming the patient experience were big drivers for the NHS. Our Patient Concierge solution – in partnership with BT – addresses these goals.” he said.
If Patient Concierge wins the Smarter Workflow Award on November 21, it would be the second award it has won this year following the ‘Best AI Chatbot Solution’ win at the Juniper Research Future Digital Awards.
Head of Product at Soprano Design, Asha Potla, added that Soprano’s partnership with Breckland Council shows the versatility of its Conversational AI solution.
“During our almost four-year partnership with Breckland Council, we’ve helped to automate resident customer service enquiries, with new use cases continuously being explored.” she said.
“Breckland Council have taken a forward-thinking approach to customer service by implementing a council chatbot that residents can interact with 24/7, rather than only offering support during office hours.”

By integrating with Alexa, Breckland’s council chatbot, Bobbie, can answer questions out loud, without the need for an app or website access, making it easier than ever for people to find out about the council’s support and services.
Alison Webb, Executive Member for Customer and Corporate Services at Breckland Council, shared her pride at their solution being nominated and gave context as to how the solution came about.
“Our residents love using Bobbie to ask questions and get information. I am delighted to be nominated for this award, which recognises Breckland’s commitment to embracing digital transformation and providing exceptional, efficient services to our residents,” she said.
“Our goal was to empower our community to self-serve, giving us the opportunity to focus on those with more complex needs. Now, residents can effortlessly access the information they need, whenever and however it suits them.”
